Swine flu niche forces market shakedown in consulting industry
July 22nd, 2009 by nicheconsultant
Flexibility and mobility are key driving strategies in the niche market consulting industry. Clients demand a high level of expertise and a quick response to their needs, and to be effective in any niche market, consulting firms have to provide expertise on demand.
With the appearance of contagious transmittable infections similar to H1N1, could this herald a change in the way that such organisations operate? The flow of expertise around the globe offers the potential for fast effective transmission of diseases, and there is no wonder that viruses that would otherwise be dealt with on a local level are suddenly elevated to world wide status.
With every passenger being checked for vital health signs as they enter and leave a country there is a greater potential for an elevation in body temperature to be detected, which leaves niche market consulting firms in no doubt that there is an added risk to their business from swine flu.
It may not be just the flu itself that causes a problem, but with health authorities barring entry to a country when the individual has a temperature this brings a heightened awareness that valuable consultants may be stranded and quarantined until any suspect symptoms are relieved.
